Memory Lane
in Giggles on January 21, 2019
So, we’ve almost made it through January. How’s everyone’s year so far?
Things over here are trucking right along. Nothing too major to report. I finally got all of my Christmas stuff put away. That was a JOB. However, during my cleanup process this year, I worked in a bit of Spring Cleaning.
Any time a deep clean comes around, you know you’re bound to find some buried treasure. That was certainly the case for me this year. My home office needed some extra-special attention. I have an ottoman from IKEA that doubles as a storage container. I love IKEA.
I found SO MANY forgotten memories. Naturally, I had to take time out of cleaning, and just stroll down Memory Lane.
Some of the items in my ottoman, I don’t even remember saving. The sweetest thing I came across was my grandparents’ wedding memory book. Both of them are gone, and it was bittersweet to read through my grandmother’s thoughts.
My grandparents were truly soulmates.
There was also an abundance of pictures when my children were little. So precious. My oldest is a senior in high school this year. Soon, he will be off to college. That thought both excites and scares the living daylights out of me. I am proud of the people my kids are becoming. They are all strong, independent, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. All three are different.
I wish I had had their collective confidence when I was their age.
I don’t think I have their confidence now. As my husband and I prepare to send our oldest off to college, we are thankful for the wonderful memories that we have, and the memories we will make.
Eventually, I did finish cleaning my office, but the ottoman break was a welcomed distraction. I found memorabilia that I forgot I saved…I will be making a trip to Hobby Lobby later in the week for framing.
I want to encourage y’all to take some time to stroll down your own Memory Lane. Cherish the memories that you have, and make room for the ones that are still yet to come.

Right there with ya! First one to college is the scariest, but it gets easier and so incredibly great when they come home. Your kids are beautiful pieces of you and your man!!! You have done a great job with them!
