The Night Before the Night Before Christmas
in Giggles on December 23, 2018
A couple of years ago I heard a song on the radio that just had me ROLLING! I fully believe that I could be (or am) a Christmas elf. I love everything about this season. People are nicer. Thoughts are happier. And there is a general feeling of peace throughout the land.
Everyone big and small seems to be holding their breath for the arrival of one jolly old man dressed in red. The song that was playing on the radio that day was called Nikki and the Crew. It was about the party going on at the North Pole on the night before Christmas Eve. I can picture Santa and the missus getting jiggy with it, and all of the elves and other critters busting at the seams with excitement over the anticipation of the journey to come.
I’ve waited all year for these two nights.
Today, as I begin my prep work for tomorrow night’s festivities, I will be humming this song—or blaring it from my Alexa; probably the latter. Today I will bake cookies, cakes, and pies. Today I will be a kid again waiting on Santa.
As is tradition, I will make sure my gifts are wrapped and my stockings are hung by the chimney with care. I will have fresh baked cookies, just in case I have a late-night visitor in the coming days. As you make your way through the night before the night before Christmas, may your cookies be just right, your dinners be perfect, and your hearts be filled with the childlike wonder that awaits on Christmas morning.
